Eyelash Extensions Aftercare Instructions:
- Be gentle. Do not rub or pull on your eyelash extensions.
- Keep your Eyelash Extensions dry for 12 hours after your appointment.
- Avoid oil-based skincare products, cleansers, and makeup removers as they cause the glue to breakdown faster – use only oil-free products.
- Oil WILL breakdown the adhesive and you will have premature lash extension loss.
- Brush your lashes daily.
- Clean your lashes daily with a foaming lash cleanser to remove any facial oil, make-up residue and dirt.
- Your hands can get dirty, and dirt is oily, so you’ll want to keep your fingers off your eyes unless cleansing.
- No saunas, facials, or swimming within 4-6 hours of application.
- Do not stick your head in the oven when baking! It can singe your extensions! Turn your head away from the oven when putting anything in or pulling anything out.
- Do not use eyelash curlers or try cutting your eyelashes.
- Do not use waterproof mascara or eyeliner.
- Avoid steam rooms, sauna 24-48 hours after application.
- Do not attempt to remove any lashes on your own, call us for an appointment.
- To maintain the fullness of your lashes, we recommend fills every 2-3 weeks.
- Nourish and strengthen your lashes with a strengthening lash serum.
Why should you clean eyelash extensions?
Oil, dirt, and makeup result in crusty build up if not cleaned. If you are not washing your extensions, bacteria will stick to your eyes and cause infections. Clean lashes last longer. Improper cleaning has similar consequences with neglecting the lash extensions: irritation, poor lash growth, and infections.
What happens if you don’t clean lash extensions?
Failure to wash your lash extensions will result in blepharitis and poor retention. Blepharitis is a result of bacterial overgrowth along the eyelashes base. This creates an environment where mites thrive, causing inflammation of the eyelids.
Buildup breaks down the extensions’ adhesive bond. When the glue gets weak, the lash extensions start to fall off prematurely. An effect that’s as undesired as it is short-lasting.
Regular cleaning will ensure your lashes stay intact, lush, and full. Use a good eyelash extension wash to clean your falsies twice a day, in the morning and evening.
